Michigan COVID-19 Vaccination Info

Who can be vaccinated currently:

Health care workers and long term care residents and staff
Michiganders age 65 and older, frontline essential workers, child care and pre-K through high school staff, and congregate care facilities
Mortuary service workers
Workers in food processing and agricultural settings
Depending on the health department:Residents 60 and up. Vaccination sites must meet critera to offer 60+. Check your local health department.
Persons 55+ who accompany a Detroit resident who is 60+
Starting March 8th: Persons 50+ with pre-existing conditions
Starting March 22nd: All Persons 50+

Places to receive a vaccination:

1) Your local health department
Look up your county's department here. This may be the primary way vaccinies are distributed going forward, so please follow your county's health department closely. Follow them on social media if they have it, sign up for email/text updates, etc. Appointments vary from county to county, and signups vary. Some release appointements are certain times. Some are holding vaccine clinics. Familiarize with how your local health department is making appointments and watch closely for changes. Check VaccineMI.com for the current status as well. PLEASE NOTE if you work in a different county than you live, you may be eligible in that county as well.

2) Hospital systems
Many hospital systems are setting up appointments through their online patient portals. Create an account/MyChart at the hospital system you belong to, even if your vaccination group is not yet up. Check VaccineMI to search the hospitals in your area and for links to the account page. If you have an account already, make sure all your info (including your email) is up-to-date. If you don't have an account, create one whereever you have medical history - e.g. the hospital system your primary care doctor is through. Even if you went to an Urgent Care in the past, you should have enough medical history to create an online account.

3) Pharmacies
Rite-Aid is offering many online appointments. They go fast, but some are available throughout the day as people cancel. New appointments open at approx. 11:45pm Tues-Sat. Sign up here. Try this 3rd party tool (VaxxMax) to find appointments. (Alternative appointment finder.) Using VaxxMax has been very successful for many!

Meijer is starting to offer a limited number vaccines the week of 2/9/21. Sign up here.
Walgreens: Sign up to be alerted when vaccines become available in MI. Also try this 3rd party tool to find appointments when they become available.

Kroger is offering online appointments. Check often for open appointments here.
Walmart is now offering online appointments: Check
